Cricketers, farmers, golf players and others, who have long exposure to the sun, have more tendencies to have milder forms of skin cancer.

So after learning how the body reacts to sunlight here is some information on how to prevent its harmful effect.

Ironically, studies on skin care show that Vitamin D, with the help of sunlight exposure, is what can help the body combat skin cancer.

So how does one go out in the open without the paranoia of cancer haunting him? Dermatologists suggest the use of sunscreens.

Researches showed that exposure to sunlight sans sunscreen should be less than 10 to 15 minutes at noon, while the sun is at its strongest. Using a sunscreen with an SPF or sun protection of 15 or higher is recommended. People with sensitive skin and the older adults should use an SPF of 30 or stronger because their skin tends to burn more easily. People with allergies or sensitive skin should also take note of the ingredients and choose those that are free of chemicals, dyes, preservatives, and alcohol. If sun exposure will be particularly high, using a stronger sunscreen like zinc or titanium oxide is the better option, as it will completely stop sunlight from reaching the skin. Web Develoment Versus Web Design

Since this is a Web design blog I have to school everyone on something. Many people out there do not understand or even know that web development and web design are two completely different skill sets. To the lay-person a webmaster is the person that will design and build out their website(s). But in reality not all webmasters, or web developers, are good at design. In fact good designers are hardly ever great developers.

A good web developer will understand site architecture, SEO ranking factors, and some light programming. They will know how to access hosting, use cpanel, etc. They will know how to create valid CSS and XHTML. Good developers will know how to work with databases too.

But a good designer will have a mastery of Web design software like photoshop, fireworks, etc. A good designer will that certain elements need to be in a homepage, like a call to action. Designers will understand what types of colors go together and what types of moods they can elicit. A great designer will know how to design a site so that it not only looks good but will be search engine friendly as well.

Now I am not saying that there are not any competent designers and developers out there because there are. But they are few and far between. What I am saying is that in general designers and developers should be two different people. In web companies, or agencies, there is someone that creates designs and someone else that builds it out. So next time you set out to build a site please try to understand that if you want quality work done then you are most likely going to need to hire someone (or an agency) to create your design and another person to build it out to spec.

Your Skin is Under Attack!

You may not realize it but your skin is under attack every minute of every day. It is constantly being bombarded by elements in the environment and atmosphere that are damaging and harmful, and even more so for certain people that live or work in particular areas. As an example, you may already be aware of the damage that the sun does to the skin. There is always talk about UVA and UVB rays; you may not completely understand what these rays are but you know they’re out to get you! Pollution is another common irritant to skin, as are very high levels of dust and dirt. There is always dirt in the air and the skin is designed to collect and then rinse away any minor coating of dust but if you live or work in a very polluted or very dirty environment your pores are going to be clogged with this dirt and you may be prone to breakouts and more skin irritations. Skin’s pores are designed to handle only so much dirt and pollution and anything more than that is just going to sit on your face and cause damage. Of course there are other things that irritate the skin such as chlorine, acid rain, and so on.
